All projects supported by A&K Philanthropy were chosen by the local A&K offices. Each project assists the immediate community whether it is associated to health, social, environmental or cultural restoration. As all projects have an element of volunteerism they each bring opportunity for A&K clients and staff to participate in further improving the community. Below are some of the projects AKP has sponsored in Africa.

Nyumbani Children of God Relief Institute
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
AKP Support: in collaboration with FOC, A&K Philanthropy is sponsoring activities for children living in the home such as tree planting, Conservation Club projects and nature-based field trips.

Olonana Indigenous Tree Planting Project
Location: Olonana Camp
AKP Support: in collaboration with Olonana and FOC, AKP is contributing to reforestation in the Masai Mara with the planting of indigenous trees in a special tree nursery area.

Pusanki School Initiative
Location: Olonana Escarpment
AKP Support: in collaboration with Olonana, AKP is assisting the needs of a primary school located in the communities of the Olonana landlords; the current commitment is to complete the construction of one classroom.

Masai Student Scholarship
Location: Pusanki Primary School
AKP Support: in collaboration with Olonana, AKP is providing support for a four-year scholarship for a Masai girl who will complete her secondary education in 2010.

A&K CCC Tree Planting
Location: Greater Masai Mara, Nairobi & other conservation areas
AKP Support: to plant 27,300 trees representing every A&K USA and A&K UK passenger travelling in 2007.

A&K CCC Biogas Plant
Location: Olonana landlords' village, Masai Mara
AKP Support: to establish a biogas plant in the community of the Olonana landlords to provide clean energy from domestic animal waste for cooking and heat.

FOC Community Scouts
Location: Greater Masai Mara
AKP Support: core funding for scout patrols that have been ongoing in different forms for more than 20 years through FOC.

Elephant Outreach Programme
Location: Stanley's Camp / Baines' Camp, Botswana
AKP Support: an environmental education programme to expose the children of Ngamiland to their natural heritage and offer them a positive interaction with elephants.

Peninsula School Feeding Scheme
Location: Cape Town
AKP Support: to assist in feeding hungry school children and encouraging parents to send their children to school to receive a meal as well as education.

The Dana Mahon Project
Location: Pretoria
AKP Support: to assist severely under privileged people to empower them to be self-sustaining and working with housing, medical aid, orphanages and child-headed households.

Community Vegetable Farming
Location: South Luangwa National Park
AKP Support: to assist the local village to earn income from responsible tourism with the establishment of a vegetable farm to sell produce to A&K's partner in Africa, Sanctuary Lodges & Camps.

Lubangwe Community Project
Location: Matetsi Resettlement Area, Victoria Falls
AKP Support: to assist malnourished children through community food assistance and development.

Project: Gijedebung Primary School
Location: Gijedebung Village outside Tarangire National Park, near Swala camp
AKP Support: to assist current needs of the school and students.

Project: Beekeeping in Mwika Village
Location: Mwika Village outside Tarangire National Park / near Swala camp
AKP Support: to conserve forest resources and indigenous plants, provide traditional foodstuff and additionally produce income from the sale of honey with a project to provide beehives to families in Mwika Village.
